At the age of forty, Etienne Fabre made a decision that would change not only his life but also the lives of his descendants: he would become a glovemaker. The legacy of Maison Fabre as glovemakers goes back further than the company's founding. In 1909, Etienne Fabre, then 25 years old, was so passionate about horseback riding that he enlisted to become a mounted police officer. At the time, horses, horse-drawn carriages, bicycles, boats, and trains were the main modes of transport, and everyone owned a pair of gloves: it was a revelation and the beginning of a family story that continues to this day.
