FABRICATION

Among the recent initiatives carried out by our House, the call to glove craftsmen in Portugal (for the hand sewn) and Hungary (of the same gantry tradition) has helped to sustain our profession while being a perfect complement to Millau’s activity.

Since 2010, to ensure the transmission of our unique skills, we have launched an internal training plan to recruit and train in the Millau workshop a talent every two years.

UFO leathers, mostly high in organic labels for meat or milk production, are recycled and processed by a megisserie in Italy.

Since 2018, Maison Fabre has recycled 100% of its leather falls.

Classical, graphic or playful, the Maison Fabre gloves are designed in the greatest respect for traditional know-how: exceptional pieces for elegance to the tip of the fingers.

1 Selection of the finest materials from the mills in France, Italy, Portugal, New Zealand or Spain based on their grain and roundness.

2 Colour bath with colorist to determine the desired finish.

3 – Control and preparation of batches to "prove" the master cutter. The skin, once selected, is humidified to the buffer, stubborn then "worked", stretched in the sense of length and width. The cutter defines the glove surface by tracing a square on the skin before cutting it using scissors. This is the debrising. The piece of leather is stretched again in the sense of length to dimensions of the template. It’s the brothel. The skin is cut as a rectangle and stretched to the maximum.

4 Hands right and left, inches forks (skin fittings found between fingers), strips are combined in pairs to form a "slide pass".

5 The pass and its indications are entrusted to a "small hand" which marks each piece of hand-cut leather with numbered zinc plates from 01 to 999. Each pair cut into the same skin remains together for mounting. Each skin is different, it gives it a unique character.

6 Each piece is cut to the front-piece according to the set shape of the glove. There is one per glove type and size. The fingers are separated, the pitch of the thumb is shown during this operation called "slot".

7 – the pieces are then assembled ready to be embroidered, by hand, or by the machine. The gloves are then stitched in English piqué on old machines. We assemble the thumb with the glove, place the forks, put the accessories, for the first time the glove appears.

8 The lining, real glove inside the glove, is sewn at the tip of each finger. The linings are controlled during the wanding using a wand or a glove opening.

9 The passage in the “hot hand” is the ultimate step. The "training" consists of glowing the pair on an old, electricly heated metal hand for its final forming and final controls.
